Instructions
-
Heat Milk in microwave (30-60 seconds). The Milk should feel like bath water.
-
Place warmed milk in medium bowl. Sprinkle yeast over top and stir.
-
Add sugar, shortening, and salt to milk mixture. Beat until combined.
-
Add Egg to bowl. Mix until combined.
-
Add flour, ½ Cup at a time until 3 cups have been added.
-
A dough should have formed and can be worked on a floured surface.
-
Slowly add remaining ¼ to ½ cup of flour while kneading the dough for 5 minutes.
-
Once dough is formed, place in a greased bowl, allow to sit two hours or overnight (in refrigerator) if possible.
-
Once dough has risen, punch dough down to release hair.
-
On a lightly floured surface, roll dough into a rectangle.
-
Make filling by adding sugar, softened butter, and cinnamon together. Spread filling on rolled dough.
-
Roll up dough like a jellyroll. Roll it tight to keep together.
-
Once rolled, using thread, cut 8-12 pieces, about one inch thick.
-
Place rolls onto a prepared baking sheet. Bake in oven at 375 Degrees for 15 minutes.
-
Once baked, let rest 5 minutes.
-
Make glaze by adding confectionary sugar and milk in a small bowl. Drizzle on top of the finished cinnamon rolls.
